Don't have a trunking scanner yet? Picking up too much static on MECA?

TRY  THIS :

Subtract 45.00MHz from the above frequencies and program them into another memory bank.  When scanning this bank you will be bypassing the trunking system and picking up transmissions from the mobile and portable units.  This will allow you to listen in on the activity in your area - even if you don't have a trunk tracking radio.  Due to the limited amount of Plainfield radio traffic, you should be able to follow most conversations as they change frequencies.   This method may also allow you to get a stronger signal than you get from the distant MECA transmitter that you normally receive using the trunking system.  Depending on the proximity of the transmitting unit and your scanner, some traffic may be missed  using this method.  A good outside antenna will greatly improve your reception.
