Plainfield  (Indiana)  Radio  System

Early in March (2000) I noticed that I could no longer hear the cars responding to calls  from the dispatcher.   Further investigation and listening found that they had  switched to the  Indianapolis MECA trunking  system.  At the present time Plainfield Police, Fire and Ambulance DISPATCH are still broadcasting on the old VHF frequencies too.  Click  HERE  for the MECA frequencies.

The FCC database shows 6 new UHF radio frequencies for the town of Plainfield.  They are listed below.  They don’t appear to be in operation as of this date.  I think there will eventually be a Plainfield trunking system using the new frequencies.

I have found the following Plainfield services to be operating with the associated talk group codes:

22256          Police - Dispatch (cars can be heard too)

            22288          Police - “channel 2”  or  “ops 2”

22320          Police - “channel 3”  or “ops 3”    (car to car)

            22352          Police - "admin"

22416          Police - "tac 2"  (car to car)

NEW     22448          Police - "ert 5" (Emergency Response Team) Like SWAT

            22480          Police - Training

22576          Fire/Ambulance - Dispatch (mobile units can be heard too)

            22608          Fire - "ops-1"

            22704          Fire -  "admin"   Administration

            22736          Fire - "ops 2"
